Instagram - Week in Review 5

You got a minute? Ok maybe, five.
Haven't gotten around to my weekly instagram post lately. Whoopsie.
So we have a little catching up to do, to say the least.

my furchild. quickly/ easily-distracted/intrigued by outside 'noises.'
[squirrel?]

feeling extra spikey thanks to Vera Wang and her fab flats. thanks, Kohls!

"oh hey. your uh basket, is in my way."

bubble bath + Bethenny.
[so necessary]

speaking of Mrs. Hoppy, got myself a few of her fab Skinnygirl products +
 I've been swooning ever since! however, not swooning over Walmart's packaging.
 [these 2 tiny things in this big old box, really? ugh.]

my favorites on display at Wegmans.
[they like me, they really like me!]

welcome to married life on a Friday night. HA!

eeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Pardon my squeal but this is some exciting stuff for this little blogger.
Making some moves to get ready for Bloggy Boot Camp next weekend in Philly!
[cannot wait to share this experience with you!]

mid-week mani + pedi with momma.
[treat.yo.self]

another week. another doctor.
still looking for answers + successful treatments for my poor-aching back.

yo, buzz off!
[let me in my classroom]

I may or may not have slightly over done it on the mags lately.
[whoa lady]

my "bob" has grown-out long enough to manage a messy "top-knot"
feels good to be a bun-head,
again.

A really important lesson I've been trying to hit home lately.
[something to keep in mind]

she looks so sweet and innocent when she's sleepy.
don't let it fool you.

Ummmmm. kicking myself for not documenting this meal more.
so easy + so good!
simmer one can of coconut milk, add one tsp of curry paste, one tbsp fish sauce, add veggies of choice [ I added shredded carrots, onions, and red bell peppers] and chopped chicken [or don't and keep it veggie-friendly] let simmer until veggies are tender and chicken is cooked through.
serve over rice, like Uncle Ben's Ready Rice - Jasmine. top with chopped basil. YUM!

seriously? is this real life? he's too cute.

I'd like to introduce you to a new friend. Her name is BECA, and she's deelicious!
[bacon, egg, cheese, and avocado]

two things.
yes, my mom did text me @ 6:16am on a Saturday morning.
and yes, she does love using Emoji's as much as me

that early text led to a lovely lunch date
on the patio @Acacia during Mayfest.
kung pao for me. soft-shell sammy for her.
BOOM.
[gahh, I love my town!!!]

worked a gorgeous wedding this weekend with Canapes Catering.
these centerpieces were just too dreamy not to document.

visited my favorite oil + vinegar shop this weekend
and picked up this outrageously good Gremolata EVOO.
roasted some carrots with a couple of tbsps and little s + p. wow!

Girls Night Out- Downtown Frederick

Nothing like starting the week with a temperature drop of 30 degrees, rain and a stressful hour-long meeting. Talk about a whiplash back into reality. I was sweating working outside whilst in capri-pants, short sleeves, and flip-flops on Saturday. And now they're calling for snow in parts of western MD?? As my always quotable team leader would say, "Excuse me and do what??!" I'm usually not one to complain about the weather. But this year has been down right ridiculous with its seemingly confused weather patterns. Let's go back to a happier time, shall we?! A pleasant memory where my biggest concern was "should we walk or wait for the limo?" Ha! Oh memories...
 Sweet memories coming atcha: Girls Night Out- Downtown Frederick
[Thursday, April 19th] Tickets were $15 which included a
20% off shopping pass at 4 fabulous local shops.
Plus signature cocktails at each store, yummy bites AND limo rides! Whoop whoop!
Best part...all of the ticket proceeds benefited the Heartly House
[fun + philanthropy? sign.me.up!]
we had a blast playing with the props + posing at Silk & Burlap's photo booth
with Virginia based photographer Robin Altice

one of my favorite ladies around sadly couldn't join us on this outing
because she was too busy being fabulous and working the event @ Velvet Lounge.

arm candy--all in! spotted: matching turquoise + pink bracelets.
yeah, those were our "entry" armbands to let each shop know we've paid [score!].
Oh and can ya tell we were just a tad excited for our limo transport from shop-to-shop??
[spoiled rotten]

doing what we do best.
[perching, posing, and party rockin']

LOVED the signature cocktail at Venus on the Half Shell. It had just the slightest hint of rosemary. All of their tasty treats + drinks were created by Veggie Annie
Which included these little bits of heaven...almond macaroons. [um, swoon]

scooped up this sweet vintage chip + dip platter from Venus on the Half Shell
Not only is it adorable, it's also perched atop a lazy-susan. It's a twofer!

Silk & Burlap was bumping the jams as we perused their tremendous selection. Always a good sign when an old friend (and beer rep) is mixing your drinks [thanks, Amanda!] This store is quickly becoming one of my favorites in town. LOVE their style from top-to-bottom and all the bits in between. In fact they may be a bit dangerous [on second thought...nahhh].
They have everything a girl could want in there...for herself + her habitat.
Check it out for yourself...if you haven't already.
last but not least, this pretty green necklace. another fab find of the night. this treasure coming from the standard of coolness when it comes to Frederick-female-fashion...
the original downtown boutique...Velvet Lounge.
Now, grab a bunch of your favorite gals and get ready for the next one.
These events are FUN [with a capital F!]
A great excuse for a night out with the girls plus a little charity work.
#Winning all around! Not sure when the next one will be...
but to make sure you're ready, go ahead and like their Facebook page here
That way next time, you'll be right there with us making some of those swell memories.
Thanks so much to all who helped put on this event--it really was such treat! And big thanks goes out to the Heartly House for all the amazing work you do.
Feels good to know we have contributed to a portion of the good deeds you do everyday.

football, fashion, and food...oh my!

This weekend was just lovely. It was a 3-day wknd, so what's not to love?

isn't our town darling?
enjoyed some brews + oysters at our local micro-brewery [brewer's alley]

watched football. lots and lots.
playoffs! playoffs?! Ravens WIN! whew-hoo! Packers lose? weird.
[[how adorable is my fur-cousin Jagger?]]

watched the Globes...well more like glanced at the Globes.
mainly just to get a peek at these ^

[Jessica + Reese were my favs!]

also watched this. holy cow. incredible story.
a few of the images + sounds, still haunt me.
powerful stuff.

~~~
Got a little crafty! thanks to pinterest, I was inspired 1st to make this holiday card wreath.
then when putting our "holiday" things away, the thought occurred to me to hit up good ole' JoAnn's Fabric and find some pre-cut hearts to put in place of the holiday cards.
think it turned out pretty darn cute...if I do say so myself ;)
I also decided the winter outdoor wreath had to go. So thanks again to pinterest [addicted!]
I got a little inspiration for a sweet-heart XO wreath.
This one took a lot more time + work. Got all of my supplies from JoAnn's again.
Both projects cost maybe $20?! Gotta love that teacher discount :)
did a little cooking---->Crab Dip!! [recipe below] [[YUM!]]
enjoyed a mini road-trip with the hubs
AND...became absolutely enthralled with this show! [[highly recommend]]murder, betrayal, British accents, love affairs 20th century fashion, war
...need I say more?
 [[Recipe]]
Quick + Easy Crab Dip
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup low-fat mayo
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 3 tbsp Old Bay
  • 2 cups [divided] cheddar cheese [or any cheese you'd like, I used pepper jack for an extra kick!]
  • 12-16oz crab-meat
Directions:
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl using only one cup of cheese.
  3. Spoon crab mixture into baking dish.
  4. Top with remaining cheese and a sprinkle [or 3] of Old Bay seasoning.
  5. Cover with foil, and bake for 15-20 mins or until bubbly.
  6. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until top begins to slightly brown!
  7. Grab your favorite cracker or chip + dig in! Enjoy :)
[I think either Ritz crackers, or Stacy's Simply Naked Pita chips work best!]
this weekend was just easy-breezy [as they should be]
and an all-around...
